Woke up to a chilly morning but as promised to Tina (Zoe’s Mum) Tris blew up supplied balloons and served Zo her birthday cake complete with lit candle! The van was full of cards!
Left Toledo on the CM-42, stopping at Madridejos for fuel and to give Charlie a good wash after being covered in salt from the ferry crossing!
We picked up the E-5/A-4 and carried on ’til right at the border of Andalucía, smack bang in the middle of “Parque Natural Despenaperros”! Stopped to make some lunch, take in the scenery and to get a couple of photos.
Liking the area so much we decided to look for a campsite close by. Drove through the park to find a little place called Santa Elena where there was somewhere to stay overlooking the park and olive groves! Paid for electric hook-up to find that unbeknown to us a European adaptor was required (D’oh!).
Had much needed showers (birthday treat!), Gin and Tonic’s (courtesy of Zo’s friends – thank you!) and then later that night walked down into the village to find a little local restaurant where we had a lovely meal and a couple of beers (another birthday treat 🙂 ! )
